CREATING CONTENT FOR MULTIPLE PLATFORMS
This year I have decide to move as many eggs out of the instagram basket as possible. almost a decade ago, when I first started using instagram, the focus of the platform was simply one thing. Sharing images and pictures. But in the last several years, Instagram has changed the game in some really big ways, not only for businesses, but even in the identity of what the platform represents. It has become a pay to play platform, and video has become king, short and long form. Because the truth is, instagram has lost sight of the very reason people even use the platform.
So this year I have started to once again, create content that works across all platform. also after over a year of off, I have started creating content for YouTube once again. If you don’t already make video content for YouTube, I highly recommend to any business, that you begin prioritizing YouTube over instigate.
I want to share with you Four of my top reasons why any business owner should be creating content for YouTube!
Youtube is the second largest search engine on the internet, runner up only to google. When people want to learn how to do something, they go to YouTube. If you search something on google, it will show you related videos on YouTube, because google owns YouTube.
People now more than ever, want genuine encounters with businesses and business owners. There are so many large corporations and conglomerates creating faceless products that don’t connect with their clientele. But you have a unique opportunity to share the raw and real side of what your business is, and who you are! People love this, and by connecting with you and seeing that you are real, they will get behind you even more.
It is a lot harder to fake and edit video vs a photo on instagram. I know people who will spend hours editing a photo to look just right. Or maybe even photoshop several images together to create something “out of this world,” but completely fake and misrepresenting who they truly are. With video, it is much easier to see the real side of someone, because you are seeing them for all angles.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, than imagine how many words are packed into 24 frames per second. The human eye can only truly perceive 24 frames (photo clips) during each second. This means that your brain is processing a massive amount of data, color, sound, and story when you watch a video vs simply just a photo.
This week I started making content on YouTube to promote my candles. I wanted to make something that not only marketed my product, but also gave people something to do while at work. Listening to a chill mix for 23 minutes seemed like a cool idea, so I created Coffee Candles + Chill. A throwback to the Yule log channel found around the holidays.
My plan is create SIMILAR VIDEOS LIKE THIS WITH EVERY CANDLE I EVER PRODUCE. IT WILL HELP IN CREATING MORE AWARENESS FOR THE CANDLES, BUT ALSO A FUN USEFUL TOOL FOR MAKERS TO ENJOY!
BY BIGGEST VIDEO EDITING SECRET
The best move I ever made in creating content for multiple platforms, is recording all of my video in 4K. This gives me high quality video for YouTube, but I can crop 4K footage (filmed horizontally), into a vertical 9x16 aspect ratio for vertical video content on instagram reels, iGTV, Tiktok, and the new YouTube shorts! By creating a one minute short video out of every YouTube video, it acts as a trailer / teaser for the full length version. Doing the same work for all platforms broadens my reach and gives me the opportunity to engage with a larger viewing audience.
also, because my settings are already dialed in for lighting, color, and focus, I can snap photos of each scene creating a massive amount of photo content to use for marketing purposes in the future!
in a future blog, I will share with you some tips and tricks I learned from some of the top youtubers about how to get your videos noticed more! As well as settings you can use while filming, that allow you to grab still images from your video without having to snap any photos!
I hope these tips were a little helpful! If so, I’d love to hear any questions you might have! Comment below if you are in the member’s section, but if you aren’t, I would love to invite you to join! This year is going to see a huge spike in growth for all of us, but I especially want to give you all more tools, tips, and motivation than ever before!
